ORIGINALLY FROM EVENT SOLUTIONS
The events blogosphere has been buzzing about Twitter, one of the most talked-about social media tools to hit the scene. The "microblog" media allows users to instantly message "followers" with tips, articles, comments and ideas.
Companies like Dell, JetBlue and InStyle magazine have all seen success using Twitter to drive traffic to their websites, provide customer service and put a human voice behind the organization in real-time. Industry associations like MPI and ASAE have tried it for regional events to much success, and we want to join in the fun!
The Pathable.com blog said it better than we can. Check out the article, "Twitter for Event Planners." Some ideas about Twitter and events we like:
1. Engage audiences through commenting on sessions and speakers
2. Real time feedback from attendees
3. Quicker than e-mail if you need instant opinions
4. Good way to provide customer service for registration, questions from customers
5. Instantly message out information or breaking news
6. Fast scheduling of meetups with partners and vendors during conferences
